Two men have been jailed for dealing drugs at a music festival held in the grounds of a stately home in Northamptonshire.
Alexander Stubbs (pictured, above right) and Felix Reade (above left), both aged 21, from London, were arrested for drugs offences in August 2012 and later charged with possession with intent to supply class A, B and C drugs and possession of drugs.
They were found with a stash of drugs, including cannabis, MDMA, morphine, as well as sedatives and both hallucinogenic and psychedelic drugs.
Stubbs was sentenced to two years and six months in prison, while Reade was sentenced to two years in prison at Northamptonshire Crown Court.
They were arrested at the Shambala Festival, which takes place over four days on the August Bank Holiday Weekend in the grounds of Kelmarsh Hall, featuring around 200 musical acts across 12 live stages.
Organisers describe the festival as a “legendary party” on its website, say the event is “a haven for cutting edge theatrics and performance, a think-tank of ideas, and an award winning green event”.
Speaking after the sentences, Detective Constable Nick Coe, from the organised crime and drugs team, said: “They had travelled from their homes to the Shambala Music Festival in Kelmarsh, Northamptonshire, intent on dealing drugs.
“Excellent work by security at the festival resulted in their arrest and the recovery of their drugs.
“Further help by the Metropolitan Police led to the recovery of further drugs and drugs paraphernalia from their home addresses.”
He added: “This is a strong sentence for these two young men who had no prior convictions.
“Hopefully the result of this case sends the message to those entering Northamptonshire intent on dealing drugs that they are not welcome and they will be dealt with.”
