Woeful San Marino will be battered

Wayne Rooney is insisting England don’t take San Marino lightly on Friday night, but when a 10-0 win is a smaller price than a 1-0 victory then you know a mis-match is on the cards.

Roy Hodgson’s men take on the joint-lowest ranked team in world football tomorrow night (Fri) in a World Cup qualifier, with England a best price of 1/200 to take the points at Wembley.

San Marino have lost their past 19 competitive matches without scoring, conceding a tasty 101 goals in the process, which is an average of more than five per game.

Backing over 5.5 goals is on offer at at 4/5 with Ladbrokes and that bet would have made a profit in eight of those 19 qualifiers.

The likes of Slovakia, Montenegro, Hungary and Finland all managed to put six past them, and England are obviously more than capable of doing the same.

And when you consider England’s convincing 5-0 win in Moldova last month, England should run riot here.

I also fancy England to get firing early on – they’re even money with William Hill to open the scoring in the opening 10 minutes.

Saints out to 6/1 to finish top of Premiership

Saints have drifted out to 6/1 with sportingbet to top the Aviva Premiership table following their humiliating defeat at London Irish last weekend.

Jim Mallinder’s side were 4/1 with most firms last week, but the manner of Saints’ defeat – their first of the season – and Leicester’s win over Sale forced the bookmakers to take action.

Tigers, who are now
within two points of the top of the table, are the 7/4 favourites.

Saracens are clear second-favourites to top the standings at 11/4. Harlequins are 4/1.

Exeter look good for a goal

Exeter have won four from five on the road in the league this season and look big at 15/8 (Coral) to make it five at Sixfields on Saturday.

Cobblers are 7/5 with the same firm, while they are 23/10 on the draw.

Exeter have scored an average of three goals a game away from home this season, so Blue Square’s 7/10 on both teams finding the net holds plenty of appeal.

Cole 8/1 to face FA charge

Paddy Power have opened a book on the next football player ‘to be charged by the FA for a tweet’.

Unsurprisingly, Ashley Cole is the 8/1 market leader, followed by Jermain Defoe (10/1), Glen Johnson (12/1) and Wayne Rooney (12/1).
