The owners of a town centre nightclub have appealed the decision to revoke its licence following a “catalogue of incidents”.

Lost, based in St Peter’s Square, was the subject of a licensing hearing by Northampton Borough Council last week.

At the meeting, police argued the club breached conditions of its licence and a decision was taken by council’s licensing committee to revoke the licence.

Sergeant Mark Worthington, licensing officer, said: “We are pleased with the decision, which reflects the serious nature of a catalogue of incidents that have occurred at these premises.

“This sends a message to the rest of the licensed trade that premises that are not run properly with due regard for the licensing objectives will be a focus for police activity.

“We will use all powers available to us to reduce violence in the night time economy.”

The club has since appealed the decision and will continue to operate until the matter has been heard before magistrates.
