Staverton made home advantage count in their NGU Hollingsworth Trophy Group A game against Rushden as they secured a 5-0 whitewash.

Although two matches went the distance, Russell Brown and Michael Franklin (2&1), Marcus Weatherburn and Bart Pomerleau (5&3) and Josh Morris and John Singleton (4&3) bagged comfortable home wins.

Farthingstone’s home game with Peterborough Milton, who have already lost both their previous matches, was postponed.

Group B

Reigning champions Northants County moved into pole position at the top of Group B with a magnificent 4-1 away victory at previously-unbeaten Whittlebury Park.

Harry Larkins and Matt Myers (4&2) grabbed the first point for County, while Ben Garrett and Alan Linney doubled the away advantage by securing game two on the 18th hole.

James Dunkley and Simon Richmond strolled in with a 5&4 win under their belts to guarantee the team success, Paul Harris and Rhys Taylor added another home point, before Whittlebury took the final tie.

There was a similar pattern of scoring in the other match as Cherwell Edge grabbed the first four points on their way to a 4-1 home victory against Kettering.

Group C

Simon Bunn and Ross Skidmore (7&6) and Keith Heard and Brad Jarvis (5&4) secured big wins as Northampton proved too strong for Priors Hall with a 4-1 home victory.

Lawrence Ryan and Lloyd Skidmore (2&1) and Sam Abrahams and Lewis White (one hole) were also successful for Northampton, while Paul Freeman and John Lenaghan (3&1) collected an away point.

Wellingborough got their campaign back on track following their away loss at Priors as they hammered Collingtree Park 5-0.

Tim Veal and Kevin Henman (7&6) and Lawrence Berryman and Ryan Connolly (5&3) recorded comfortable wins, before Jamie Milligan and Duncan Cornish sealed the team victory on 17.

Group D

Jack Ireson and Dave Johnstone’s victory on the 18th hole proved decisive for Oundle as they edged a tight home contest with Cold Ashby by a single point.

Kevin Richardson and Grant Holmes (4&2) and Andy Saunders and Luke Wyatt (7&6) collected the other home points, with Ashby’s two wins both coming down the last.

Daventry had few problems defeating an under-strength Silverstone outfit as Nathan Freezer and John Hunter secured an impressive 7&6 victory in a home whitewash.

NGU Scratch League

Priors Hall were relegated into the bottom tier after failing to fulfil their last fixture away to Farthingstone resulting in a 6-2 defeat.

Peterborough Milton won the main division for the third successive year, while second division champions Northampton replace Overstone Park in next season’s top flight.

Brampton Heath were promoted into the second tier, while Kettering suffered relegation into the third category, where they will face Division Four winners Oundle.
