Northampton could be peaking at just the right time after they reached the Handicap League semi-finals with back-to-back wins at last year’s beaten finalists Wellingborough.
Lee Van Hoof and Chris Flaherty (four holes) and Adrian Nice and Spencer Sturges (five holes) were successful in the final two games in a 10-6 away victory, before Northampton strolled to a 11-1 win a week later.
Northampton still required a helping hand to guarantee top spot in Group A as Brampton Heath could have overtaken them with a good win at Rushden.
Although an excellent six-hole victory for Ian Patton and John Norry gave Brampton the advantage with just two games left on the course, Rushden came good as they completed a 10-6 win.
In Group B, Cherwell Edge qualified for the last four after Collingtree Park blew their chances of topping the group by losing their last three matches.
After going down at Daventry by the scoreline 11-1, Collingtree put up a better fight away to Cherwell as they won half the ties in a 12-6 defeat.
The semi-finals were still within their grasp but needing a big win in their final outing to overtake Cherwell, they crashed to a 13-0 reverse at Kingsthorpe, for whom Tim Smeathers and Chris Caswell impressed.
In Group C, Peterborough Milton enjoyed mixed results in their last two away matches as they went down to a 10-5 reverse at Embankment before responding with a gritty 9-5 victory against Priors Hall.
Despite losing the opener at Embankment by three holes, Dave Wright and Mike Williamson emphasised the change in fortune for Milton at the Corby course as they triumphed by the same margin.
Embankment were also successful in their next home game as they secured a 9-6 victory against Overstone, who have already guaranteed top spot.
In Group D, defending champions Hellidon Lakes are safely through to the last four after recording two convincing wins at home. to Staverton and away to Delapre.
Despite losing at Staverton seven days earlier, Hellidon made no mistake on their own course as they grabbed three huge wins in a 22-1 demolition.
Although first position was already secured, Hellidon finished their campaign in style as lead pairing Paul Upfield and Craig Cotterill (five holes) sent them on their way to a 13-1 win at Delapre.
