Police have arrested a man after a dangerous driver flashed other cars, undertook vehicles and then caused a five car pile-up after stopping suddenly on the A45 in Northampton.
Detectives have appealed for anyone who witnessed a motorist driving dangerously in the Northampton area on Tuesday at about 6.15pm to contact them.
The man was reported to be driving dangerously along Towcester Road, up Mereway and onto the A45 from Queen Eleanor towards the motorway.
Police say he tailgated and flashed lights at motorists, undertook a car along the A45 and performed several emergency stops.
The driver then stopped in the second lane of the A45, by the Wootton slip road to argue with another driver, causing a pile-up on the road involving five vehicles.
The man is described as middle aged and was driving a gold or sandy coloured Vauxhall Corsa.
One person has been arrested in relation to the offence but officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have noticed the driver’s behaviour between the Towcester Road area and the point of the collision.
Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101 - alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
