The Cobblers have signed Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Leee Nicholls on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old impressed on his initial three-month loan spell at Sixfields, before returning to the DW Stadium last week.
Cobblers boss Aidy Boothroyd admitted at the time that he was keen to see Nicholls return, and the shot-stopper has now signed a deal that will see him stay with Town until May, 2013.
With senior goalkeeper Shane Higgs ruled out for the opening months of the season, the youngster was signed on loan from the Latics in August following the cancellation of Neal Kitson’s contract and his return to America.
Nicholls has made 15 appearances for Town, with his debut coming in the 0-0 npower League Two draw at Rochdale on August 18.
That was one of six clean sheets he has kept, and he will be in the squad for tonight’s clash against York City at Bootham Crescent.
Boothroyd must now decide whether to reinstate Nicholls to the starting line-up, or stick with Higgs, who made only his second start of the season in Saturday’s 1-1 FA Cup draw with Bradford City.
