Fire service officials have said the annual Guy Fawkes celebrations in Northamptonshire passed off without major incident.

Crews across the county were expecting a busy few days, with the period traditionally becoming one of the busiest of the year for firefighters.

But despite a number of displays, and plenty of residents staging their own parties in their gardens, there were few incidents of note in Northamptonshire.

Fire crews were called out to just six bonfire-related incidents on fireworks night itself, plus two arson attacks.

A firework was pushed through the letterbox of a property in Caernarvon Close, Towcester causing scorch marks to the front door and curtains at around 11.30pm on Saturday, November 3.

A similar incident took place in Wellingborough on Monday, November 5, when a firework was pushed through the front door of a property in Compton Road at 9.10pm.

The ground floor and hallway of the property were severely damaged by fire and the rest of the property suffered moderate smoke damage.
