Aidy Boothroyd says he is keen to take another look at Corby Town striker Josh Moreman.

Moreman played 60 minutes - during which he was given a chance on the wing and up front - in Cobblers’ 2-1 win over a Stoke City development side at Sixfields on Saturday.

The 21-year-old had impressed Boothroyd during Corby’s 3-1 Maunsell Cup defeat to Northampton at Steel Park three days earlier.

And the Cobblers boss was once again happy with what he saw from a player he admits he threw in at the deep end against Stoke’s youthful side.

“It’s very difficult for a lad to come in from Corby,” said Boothroyd. “He’s come in, he’s played for us and we want another look at him.

“I like what I’ve seen. It’s obviously very difficult to get to the pace of the game because it’s a different standard and there are different requirements.”

Moreman was one of three trialists on show for Cobblers against Stoke, with winger Danny Emerton and right-back Kevin Amankwaah also given time to shine.

Emerton emerged from the bench with half an hour to go, while Amankwaah started and was withdrawn a minute before the end.

“As far as Danny’s concerned, I was very happy with what he did when he came on,” said Boothroyd. “Now it’s a case of taking it forward to Leicester (on Tuesday night) and having another look.

“We’ll continue to do that (look at Amankwaah). We’ll have a sit down and both make a decision and see if we can do something. If we can, great, if we can’t, we’ll move on.”
